Censorship — The Blight to Free Press & Freedom of Speech
Censorship has existed for as long as people have been able to communicate with one another. Governments, religions, and even private citizens have sometimes sought to control what others say or write. Despite this, free speech and freedom of the press are both fundamental rights in any society.
Today, technology has a forceful ability to connect cultures, and a large number of computer, mobile, and web applications allow us to communicate with one another. Nonetheless, we are baffled as to how to create a system that truly allows for freedom of speech and an unbridled free press.
Decentralized Vs. Centralized Channels
Decentralized places such as web forums and chat groups are good examples of places where people can freely express themselves without censorship; however, human nature forces some people to express themselves in ways that are neither informative nor representable, such as through falsification, plagiarism, or the use of hateful or biased language, making these places unreliable sources for information.
On the other hand, we have everything else; every company involved with news reporting, every social media network, every press release is being subjected to censorship in one form or another.
Maintaining an orderly state of affairs is a standard premise for censorship. The fundamental motivation is to keep the public in the dark about information that could jeopardize the establishment’s ambitions.
The current problem with censorship is its dominance over all forms of centralized channels, reinforced by the current status quo of the authoritarian systems that maintain it; The solution will not come from this cesspool of despotism but an environment free of subordinations.
Light at the End of the Tunnel
The demand for factual, untampered information has never been higher. People are growing more restless from this dystopian future that awaits us, with governments, organizations, and establishments telling the public only what they deem acceptable.
Anomus is a project created by enthusiasts who believe in a world with no censorship, in any form whatsoever. Instead of censorship, they believe in modest principles that should define us all in a perfect world.
